Happy New Year!!!
The year 2006 has been one of the most difficult of my life. I am glad I lived through it, glad for the lessons I learned, and also glad that it will soon be over - in a matter of a few hours!! I also am grateful. Grateful for my blessings and for all those who went through this with me - friends and family all over the country and new friends here in New Mexico.
I am totally looking forward to 2007, a new life, a fresh start and hopefully a continuation of the happiness that has come to me.
I wish everyone who reads this a Happy New Year. Especially Neil and Juli, who will be embarking on their own adventure in 2007. And Sandra, who will be on her Grandma watch during January. Her first Grandchild!!
Tonight Jack and I will toast in the New Year and be thankful for each other and for the hope for the future.
The song the "Perfect Year" says it just right..."dance out the old, kiss in the new...a New Years wish to share with you...another year, another start...a brand new dream to tease the heart!
I could not say it better than that!!

Pink & Golden Sunset on December 30
Snowy Sandias at Sunset turning their usual Pink with a special splendor. This was taken from my front porch - so we have to deal with the neighborhood!! We had not seen the mountains during the snowing - it was just all snow!! Everywhere!! An snow storm of Biblical proportions!! I still have a foot of snow in my drive way!!!
Looking down Western Hills Drive, the sun, which had been not shining for days during the snow storm, made an appearance and lit up the tree tops with Gold!

Christmas Eve - 2006
The new Village is a Spanish Mission, a few Padres,a Stable, and some pioneers who have arrived... to pillage the countryside, ravage the desert, kill the Buffaloe and massacre the Native Americans...other than that it is all hunky dorey.
Here is the livingroom - alittle out of focus - but you can get the general idea!
Jack and I will spend Christmas Eve together and then tomorrow on Christmas Day we will be with his son Troy, and his two Grand Daughters!

Snow Time In Rio Rancho
We got our wish and the snow is falling... our sleepy guy is getting a blanket of snow!! Hopefully this is just the beginning!! There will be more!!! Now you folks in the Frozen Hinterlands won't appreciate this!! But we are at about 5,500 feet here and do not get significant snows - so we celebrate each one. For a few days we have frozen splendor!!
In the mountains though, they are dancing in the streets - or the slopes as the case may be - because Taos, Angel Fire and Sandia and the rest of them are in heaven!!! Jemez is due for a foot or more!!! This means good skiing and a better water level for all of us in the Spring!!
Jack will probably we taking me to work today because, while it is fine now and roads are wet but clear - when it is later in the day those roads will freeze - and this former Florida gal knows nothing about driving on ice. It is the drive home that will be dangerous - I will need my New Mexican Man with a 4x4 to get me home safely!! We will watch and see how it goes. It is beautiful - that is for sure!!

Jack
Well, where do I start? The year 2006, for me, has been almost totally
defined by my husband's illness and eventual death in January. But somehow,October 2006 was the worse month since he died and I was truly beyond despair, loneliness and hopelessness. Sandy's ashes were scattered in Florida in November and with the arrival of the photos from his family I felt closure for the first time.
I had been seeing a wonderful man, Jack, since early November. I regarded him as a good friend and companion - he was a widower and our dates of loss were only days apart. We certainly knew the drill and had been through nearly a year of misery. And, wonder of wonders, despite our own fears, protestations and struggles - our friendship caught fire.
Jack is now much more than a companion and we are filled with love and joy as never before. Everyone at work rejoices with us - they had seen our despair and loneliness - this photo, that says it all, was taken by our co-worker, Allen, at the Christmas Party!
